The Artocène festival, which brings together architecture and contemporary art, takes the form of a series of exhibitions throughout the town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The main exhibition of this second edition “Glaciers et fluididité des temps" takes place in a 550m2 space, a former warehouse of the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc. Like a loop in a mountain hike that invites us not to return on our steps, the scenography developed by the studio proposes a circular path guiding the spectator through the exhibition, which is conceived in three parts. The distribution of the picture rails invites the viewer to contemplate the works, while moving away from the rough structure of the hangar, which has been deliberately preserved. The large curtains that sequence the space are inspired by the sunshades of the rue du Dr Paccard, like a formal trace of the geographical context. Like stalactites and stalagmites, the picture rails and curtains meet, revealing snippets and perspectives of the space's globality.
